My name is Krishna. I am also known by the names Vishvam, Putatma, Ishvar, Dhata, Rishikesh, and many hundreds of other names. All of my names give me many praises, even though I am often naughty.
I always have my flute and I love to play it. When I play the flute, the most wonderful noises come out and everyone and everything around gets enchanted. One time, after listening to my flute, the king of the peacocks was so happy that he gave me one of his feathers for me to wear in my crown.
My mother is Devaki and my Father is Vasudeva, but I grew up under the care of Yashoda and Nanda. My brother is Balarama and my sister is Subhadra. My principle wives are Rukmini and Satyabhama, although I rescued 16,100 other women held captive by the demon Narakasura and married them to give them shelter and a respectful place in the society. Each of my wives gave birth to ten sons, but unfortunately they all died fighting against each other after a curse was given to me.
People find me charming, mischievous, and tactful, but I am just a simple cow herder. I have killed many demons and stopped many storms to protect people using my tact and strength. Although I am quite strong, I can be hurt through the sole of my left foot. I also enjoy butter quite a bit. I also try to help people that are weak even if it is at a cost to myself.
Ca- Curse you say?
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly was the curse?
Ah yes it was quite a terrible curse, although I can understand why it was given to me by Gandhari. It was after a great battle and I happened to be on the other side. After I helped my side kill the 100 children of Gandhari, she was very upset. It was then that she gave me the curse that my whole clan will die similar to how her clan died.
ReplyDeleteIt was the great battle of Mahabharata between the Kauravas and Pandavas. I was helping the Pandavas because they had asked for my help first. I helped annihilate the Kauravas. That is when Gandhari - the mother of Kauravas cursed me that a similar fate would befall my clan as well...
