The Whole story of my Birth
I was born in a prison because of the fear of my uncle, King Kamsa. He was the king of Mathura, but was feared by his people because of his cruelty. He even imprisoned his father to become the king. The gods themselves felt that it was time to put an end to him, so they made a prophesy.
The eighth son of my mother, Devaki, and my father, King Vasudeva, would be the one to kill the evil king. Devaki was also Kamsa's sister and the only person that he cared for other than himself. However, when he heard the prophesy he immediately attempted to kill her. Luckily, he decided that it would be sufficient to just lock up my parents.
As every child was born it was brought to King Kamsa and killed. This continued to happen until the seventh son was born. His name was Balarama and somehow he survived without anyone knowing it. Finally, after nine years, the day came when I was to be born.
There was a mighty storm and a howling wind. Then, at midnight I was born and I received a dazzling first memory. A bright light was shining and a voice said to my father:
“ Take this child across the River Yamuna to the Gokul kingdom, ruled by your friend King Nanda. His wife Queen Yashoda has just given birth to a daughter. Exchange your son for this girl child and return to the prison immediately, before anyone comes to know about the birth of this child.”
I could see that my father was sad that I would be separated from him and my mother, but he knew that it was the only chance for me to survive, so he scooped me up and started to walk out of the prison. The gods had woven a powerful spell, so all the guards were asleep and all of the doors were unlocked.
My father carried me out of the prison and towards Gokul as he had been told to do. As we went into the rain a snake came and protected us from the rain with its hood. In this way we crossed the Yamuna river and arrived in the village of Gokul. He carried me into the palace and switched me out for the baby girl that was waiting there. He carried her out and left me in Gokul with my new family.

Resolution
After crossing the river we arrived in a new land. It was the village of Gokul, which I would soon grow to love. My father took me into the palace of the king of the land, Nanda. There he switched me out for Nanda's baby girl. Then he left me to my new parents. It was sad that my parents would not bring me up, but my new parents were very kind to me and life in Gokul was awesome. And best of all Gokul had the best milk in the world.

Climax
As I said, the gods could not let me die because I was destined to kill my uncle. When I was born the gates of the prison all opened up. My dad was able to carry me through the night right past the sleeping guards. Meanwhile, the gods created a stormy night to disguise the escape of my dad and me. Around us it was calm as my dad took me to my new home.

The conflict
Before I was born, a prophesy was made. The eighth son of my parents was going to be the one to kill the evil King Kamsa. He obviously did not want that to happen, so he killed the children of my parents as they were born. The gods had prophesized that I would kill him, so I did not die.

People Related to my Birth
The interesting circumstances of my birth were all due to my uncle Kamsa. He was the powerful king of Mathura. He was so cruel and greedy that he imprisoned his own father in order to take control of the throne. The only person that he showed any affection for was his sister, my mother, Devaki.
And even she didn't come before his own love of himself and the throne. Everyone in the land of Mathura was fearful of him and they faced hard times because of his rule.
My parents were Devaki , as I already mentioned, and King Vasudev of the Yadus. They were good, courageous people and did not lose their spirit after staying in prison for many years. Nor did they despair after Kamsa mercilessly killed seven of their babies right after their birth.
Yashoda and Nanda were my foster parents with whom I spent my childhood after Vasudev brought me to them. Yashoda was a kind, loving mother who also happened to be the queen of Gokul. My foster father Nanda, king of Gokul, was equally kind and affectionate. Though they were strict at times, they pampered me during my initial years with them.
My uncle(Kamsa) trying to kill his very own sister(Devaki) while her husband(Vasudev) stops him. |

Setting of my Birth
My birth happened in very special circumstances. The prison that I was born in was filled with dazzling light. Even though it was a long time ago, I can still vividly remember it because of how powerful it was. The gods themselves conspired to help me. They created a dark stormy night with thunder, lightning, and the wonderful smell of the wet earth.
The powerful river Yamuna had swollen and was boiling in rage. I was calm and cheerful, completely unaffected by the turmoil in the world around me. Slowly, my island of calm spread to the world and all was peaceful once again.

Cultural References
Even now, people are talking about me. Since I was so naughty when I was little, they made a cartoon about me. It is pretty accurate. I always used to love to steal milk and butter from the milk maids. It is so delicious. I was also hunted by my uncles assassins, but even then they could not hurt me. Unfortunately someone has tied me to things that really should not have anything to do with me. The book Neither Cargo Nor Cult: Ritual Politics and the Colonial Imagination in Fiji by Martha Kaplan says " In the early 1980s Mr. Samalia created a stir by taking out newspaper advertisements claiming that Hitler, Krishna, and Navosavakadua are all avatars of god and will found a new kingdom in Fiji. " This does not make much sense to me. Why should I make a kingdom in Fiji and how am I like Hitler?
People are also starting to make pop-art photos of me. This specific on seems to be one of my most famous photos made into a new form.

Attributes 2
I am the king of the city of Dwarka and I find myself responsible for the wellbeing of everyone. I defend the weak from demons and the powerful. Friendship is very important to me. I try to bring peace through negotiation. I am a guide and a philosopher who uses divine knowledge to guid people from the darkness to light. My divine teachings are written in the Bhagavad Gita.
One of my symbols is the cow. It stands for simplicity and innocence. I also greatly value my peacock feather. My instrument is the flute, and with it I can brighten the day of everyone around me. I was born in the prison of my cruel uncle, but by a miracle I was transported to the city of Gokul in Mathura.
The whole town of Gokul is under my charm, although my best childhood friend is Sudama. My uncle King Kans has tried to assassinate me many times since I was born. He sends demons of all sorts to attack me, but I have always stopped them.
I was called upon by Yudishtar to help with the battle called the Mahabharatha which lasted for 18 days. The battle was between the cousins Kauravas and the Pandavas. I used my tact and divine knowledge to help guide the Pandavas to victory.
Attributes part 1
My name is Krishna. I am also known by the names Vishvam, Putatma, Ishvar, Dhata, Rishikesh, and many hundreds of other names. All of my names give me many praises, even though I am often naughty.
I always have my flute and I love to play it. When I play the flute, the most wonderful noises come out and everyone and everything around gets enchanted. One time, after listening to my flute, the king of the peacocks was so happy that he gave me one of his feathers for me to wear in my crown.
My mother is Devaki and my Father is Vasudeva, but I grew up under the care of Yashoda and Nanda. My brother is Balarama and my sister is Subhadra. My principle wives are Rukmini and Satyabhama, although I rescued 16,100 other women held captive by the demon Narakasura and married them to give them shelter and a respectful place in the society. Each of my wives gave birth to ten sons, but unfortunately they all died fighting against each other after a curse was given to me.
People find me charming, mischievous, and tactful, but I am just a simple cow herder. I have killed many demons and stopped many storms to protect people using my tact and strength. Although I am quite strong, I can be hurt through the sole of my left foot. I also enjoy butter quite a bit. I also try to help people that are weak even if it is at a cost to myself.
